FOOD SAFETY

Petrocco Farms, Inc. has always strived to provide the highest quality produce.  In the words of David Jr., "When your name is on the box, you have to go above and beyond.”  We take great pride in our work and, as such, take measures to provide the absolute best product to each and every customer.

Recent years have brought increased attention to the safety of fresh produce. As times have changed, we've strived to stay ahead of food safety trends.  We have instituted processes and monitoring systems to ensure the quality of the fields we harvest, the water used both pre and post-harvest, the cleanliness of our packing and shipping facility and worker safety programs.  In the interest of maintaining stringent and relevant standards, we have voluntarily participated in independent, third-party audits for a number of years.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has assembled the Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.  This guide focuses on the prevention of microbial contamination and accountability at all levels of the agricultural and packing environment and is a guidepost for audits and for the safety standards we implement and is the standard we use for our Food Safety Program.

In the summer of 2010,  Petrocco Farms again proudly passed our annual voluntary audit, administered by Scientific Certification Systems.  We are happy to announce that we successfully passed this audit, recognizing the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GMP), receiving scores of Superior and Excellent. For any further questions regarding our Food Safety Program, please contact Kate Petrocco at 303-659-6498 or kate@petroccofarms.com
